Chapter 11: The Control of Gene Expression

We will start chapter 11 by examining some of the ways that the genetic technology is being use.
We will discuss one component of tobacco smoke; BPDE, that binds to the p53 tumor suppressor gene and deactivates it.

We will also discuss mammals that have been cloned.  So far, at least 23 mammals have been cloned.

The development heralds the possibility of genetically engineered primates for drug testing, gene editing and brain research.

 

The article featured the cloning of Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua, the first monkey clones at the Chinese Academy of Science in Shanhai.
