Chapter 11: The Control of Gene Expression
April 5, 2018
The genetic basis of Cancer - PowerPoint
April 3, 2018
Group Project:
Chapter 11:
The Control of Gene Expression
Pictures
and words are needed to explain your answers.
1)
Describe the function of the homeotic gene.
1b) Design an animal and show how a
mutation in the homeotic gene caused a problem in the design.
2)
Use a flow chart to explain how cloning of an
animal could be accomplished. Do not
copy the exact images and wording from the text.
3)
Gene expression is regulated by turning
transcription on and off. E. Coli
changes its activities from time to time based on its environment.
Draw the DNA in a bacterium. Label the parts and explain the functions. Then explain how the bacterium turns
transcription on and off based on its environment. (Make up your own environment, such as
fructose, glucose…Do not use lactose or tryptophan as stated in the text)

The nitrogenous bases present in the RNA are
1) cytosine
2) guanine
3)adenine
4) Uracil
The DNA is double helix.
The nitrogenous bases in the DNA are:
1) cytosine
2) guanine
3) adenine
4) thymine
The base pairing rule for copying the DNA is
Cytosine bonds with guanine ( C bonds with G)
thymine bonds with adenine ( A bonds with T)
